"Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another"
-- 1 John 4:11 / NKJV
Love is always a choice. Sometimes, of course, we may "fall in love," but it takes work to stay there. Sometimes, we may be "swept off our feet," but the "sweeping" is only temporary; sooner or later if love is to endure, one must plant one's feet firmly on the ground. The decision to love another person for a lifetime is much more than the simple process of "falling in" or being "swept up." It requires "reaching out," "holding firm," and "lifting up." Love, then, becomes a decision to honor and care for the other person, come what may.

"How do you spell love? When you reach the point where the happiness, security, and development of another person is as much of a driving force to you as your own happiness, security and development, then you have a mature love. True love is spelled G-I-V-E" -- Josh McDowell
---------------
Lord, You have given us the gift of love; let us share that gift with others. And, keep us mindful that the essence of love is not to receive it, but to give it, today and forever.
