Caring For Your Family

"Now if anyone does not provide for his own relatives, and especially for his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever"
- 1 Timothy 5:8 / HCSB

The words of 1 Timothy are unambiguous:  if God has blessed us with families, then He expects us to care for them.  Sometimes, this profound responsibility seems daunting.  And sometimes, even for the most dedicated Christians, family life holds moments of frustration and disappointments.  But, for those who are lucky enough to live in the presence of a close knit, caring clan, the rewards far outweigh the demands.

No family is perfect, and neither is yours.  Despite the inevitable challenges of providing for your family, and despite the occasional hurt feelings of family life, your clan is God's gift to you. Give thanks to the Giver for the gift of family . . . and act accordingly.

Lord, we are part of Your family and we praise You for your gifts and for Your love.  You have also blessed us with our earthly family and we pray for them, that they might be protected and blessed by You.  We know that some of us may not have an earthly family like others may have.  But if we are involved in a church, they are our family as  well.  Let us show love and acceptance for our family so that through us, they might come to know and to love You.
